Community - The task force would like to thank the citizens in our community for donating new clothes and new shoes for the children removed from the Meth labs. We have been able to put together bags for them to take with them to foster care. The children love the new clothes, shoes and toys and it helps reduce the trauma of the incident.

Brighton Feed Store - Recently the North Metro Task Force received a phone call from the Brighton Feed Store located at 370 North Main Street in Brighton, CO asking what they could do to help reduce the manufacturing of methamphetamine. They advised that they believed some people were purchasing products that contained iodine (a necessary ingredient for manufacturing methamphetamine) from their store that were used for manufacturing and they were looking for assistance in creating a method that would limit the purchases and identify the purchasers. They wanted to help protect the community and the children any way they could.

The North Metro Task Force met with management of the feed store and discussed how they could help in the overall reduction of methamphetamine manufacturing.

The Brighton Feed Store has removed all but one bottle of the 7% tincture of iodine from the shelves and posted a noticed advising customers that they would need to contact management if they wanted more and advised them that a photo ID was required to purchase the iodine. Additionally, all of the crystal iodine is behind closed cabinets and the rest of the 7% tincture of iodine is also behind counters. The notice on the shelf is posted in English and in Spanish and the feed store is keeping a log of the sales.

The North metro Task Force would like to thank the Brighton Feed Store for their help and cooperation in our efforts to reduce the manufacturing of methamphetamine in Adams and Broomfield Counties. This act alone will protect numerous innocent families and children within our community. View the photo album.
